A Day in the Life of a Hypnotherapist: Passion and Purpose in Every Session

Updated: Jan 4

Embarking on my 31st year as a clinical hypnotherapist, each day continues to be filled with excitement and purpose. Through this post, I want to share insights into my daily routine, highlighting the diversity and fulfillment in this career.

Morning Routine

My day begins at 10 am, aligning with the schedules of my clients. This time allows for mental preparation and setting intentions for the day ahead.

Client Sessions

I see between 23 to 26 clients weekly, with initial sessions lasting 90 minutes and follow-ups typically 60 minutes. My practice hours span from 10 am to 6 pm, extending to 8 pm on Fridays to accommodate those with tight schedules.

Two Clinics, One Mission

Operating from the Manuka Health Centre in Petone on Mondays and my Wellington clinic from Tuesday to Friday, my core mission is to help people overcome fears, phobias, and anxiety.

Lunch Break and Self-Care

I ensure a substantial lunch break for self-care amidst my back-to-back sessions. This time is crucial for maintaining my well-being and effectiveness as a therapist.

Recording and Emailing Sessions

After sessions, I often record and email them as MP3s. Regular email communication with clients for session notes, follow-ups, and queries is an integral part of my day.

Administrative Duties

Running a practice involves administrative tasks like invoicing, website updates, and accounting – essential for the smooth operation of my business.

Staying Connected

Staying in touch with fellow hypnotherapists is key for support and keeping the professional spirit alive. These connections provide invaluable support and camaraderie.

Evening Sessions and Wrap-Up

My Fridays are extended to cater to clients who can’t make daytime appointments. Reflecting on the day’s work, I feel a deep sense of fulfillment and commitment to this profession.
